Pot odds formula and worked example
Required equity = call amount ÷ (pot before your call + call amount). Use the current pot including the opponent’s bet; do not add the call twice.
For a pot of 100 practice chips and a call of 50, the break-even equity is 50 ÷ 150 = 33.3%, and the reward-to-call ratio is 2:1. This simple comparison ignores future betting and rake.
Do pot odds tell me whether I will win?
No. Pot odds give a break-even equity threshold. You still need an estimate of your equity against the opponent’s range.
